Berry Honored for Supplier Excellence by Conagra Brands

Berry Global was the recipient of the “Enabling The Conagra Way” supplier excellence award in September 2021. Conagra Brands, one of North America's leading branded food companies, awarded its highest-ranking suppliers for their achievements in supporting food quality, efficiency, cost effectiveness and innovation across the company’s portfolio. Berry received this prestigious award, noting Berry’s integrity, agility, and broad-mindedness to deliver raw materials to Conagra’s network of facilities.

As a leader in plastic packaging manufacturing, Berry is a longtime, key supplier of Conagra. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Berry worked hard to provide Conagra’s facilities with a consistent supply of packaging for its food.

Through consistent collaboration, the two companies have brought to life sustainable innovations such as the new package design for Conagra's Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa line, which, based on an analysis conducted by Berry Global, reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 15%* and improves product recyclability through a move from round canisters to a more eco-efficient recyclable cube. This redesign is an important step forward on Conagra and Barry’s sustainable packaging journey.

“The Berry Global team is very honored and proud to receive this prestigious award. This demonstrates our true partnership and exemplifies our sustainable packaging innovation,” said Lauren Piekos, Berry’s Vice President of Marketing for Consumer Packaging North America.

Packaging supplied by Berry to Conagra’s facilities across the country is used for the company’s 38 ounce size Swiss Miss Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa Mix and additional products from its iconic food brands. *GHG emission reduction related to manufacturing of the primary container was calculated using GaBi Packaging Calculator, courtesy of Berry Global, accessed February 2020; GHG emission reduction related to better pack out and reduction in truckloads of shipments was calculated using Berry Global's proprietary Carbon Footprint Calculator
